CIRKOBALKANA is a long term collaboration project which sees to develop contemporary circus in three countries in the Balkan region. CIRKOBALKANA is also a festival which serves as a platform for exchange, knowledge transfer and professionalization of young circus artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, France and Serbia. During the period of 2008 – 2014, Cirkorama (HR), Cirkusfera (RS), Fabrika radosti (BA) and Turbul (FR) have collaborated on several educational programmes, and one of the conclusions drawn up is the fact that new circus in the Balkan area is still a misconception due to the underdevelopment of the  multidisciplinary performing art – contemporary circus, as well as the lack of technical knowledge about particular disciplines or absence of the professional circus Big Top for the artists to practice. CIRKOBALKANA will offer an educational programme (Circus Art Laboratory - Laboratorija cirkuske umetnosti) which will raise the capacities of both regional circus artists, and general public. CIRKOBALKANA will engage policy makers in a dialogue regarding the position of contemporary circus and its recognition as contemporary performing art and try to advocate for more funding opportunities and better collaboration with the public sector and other art fields.
CIRKOBALKANA will further develop the already established collaboration within the region by supporting the exchange of skills and knowledge within circus professionals in BA, HR and RS.
