DOKUVISION is a project initiated by Balkan Documentary Distribution Network, an informal platform and network among established regional cultural operators specified in a documentary film field as a project specifically aimed at cultural bonding and exchange, cooperation and education at a regional level through socially engaged creative documentary films.
DOKUVISION intends to use the power of documentary film in one participatory cultural and experiential platform combining cultural and art activities with educational and experiential and so facilitating the process of sharing quality art/film content, audience building and stimulating public debate and civic participation among the potential regional audience.
By using the power of creative documentary films and engaged visual art, DOKUVISION will try to articulate and unite regional Balkan initiatives that are using creative documentary film as a tool for civil empowerment, public participation, stimulation of public debate and building of regional audience in 6 cities in the Balkan Region: Skopje, Podgorica, Prizren, Zagreb, Belgrade and Ljubljana. DOKUVISION will consist of five synchronized screenings of socially engaged documentary films in six cities in the region which will be followed by public discussions on the issues raised in the films. The audience from all cities will be merged in same discussions through live streaming. The audience will be able to vote, as well as participate in the discussions. The screenings will take place in cinemas but also in different public spaces which can be adapted into alternative screening areas, those contributing to the efforts of alternative public space use.
